 we can't have clang-3.4 and clang-3.7 appear to accept `-stdlib=macports-
 libstdc++` but then have it non-functional, so patches to allow that can't
 be the right way to go.

 llvm 3.5+ need a working c++11 compiler to build functional software.

 #54836 is something different (now closed), but does illustrate that
 during the build of clang's darwin RT many things can go wrong that result
 in no library being produced.

 #59157 again something different, but illustrates the same point. In that
 case, the SDK is not being found (which is also an issue building
 clang-3.8 on Tiger, fixed with a patch in my build).
