 Problem solved, thanks to all the team, the missing step in the following
 sequence was "sudo port clean libgcc9"! Ticket can be closed.

 sudo port sync
 sudo port -f deactivate libunwind-headers
 sudo port clean libgcc9
 sudo port install libgcc9
