Comment:

 Seems to be python that's broken. First of all, if you start python2.7
 interactively and run `import collections` do you get the same error? If
 so, the _collections module must have not been installed for some reason.
 That reason might be difficult to diagnose without access to a Leopard
 system, but the log from building python27 might help.
