 clean (of course) and try again installing just `clang-3.4`, as you did
 above. If that still fails, please attach the product of `port rdeps
 clang-3.4`. You may be aware there is a problem with circular deps on 10.6
 and 10.7 installing `icu` for which there is a 30+ reply PR going on right
 now in the PR queue. One might ponder you are having that exact issue...
