 Well, let's factor this a bit. The issue you're having is actually with
 `mplayer` (`smtube` is just a nice gui for it to access youtube).

 I tried running your mplayer command (in the paste above, it says
 "command: " but it didn't launch for me either.

 On my system, I get the following command, which works from within smtube
 or in a terminal window. Try running this command directly from a terminal
 window:
