#58982: libnetpbm: Unable to fetch files
------------------------+------------------------

Priority: Normal | Milestone:
Component: ports | Version: 2.5.4
Resolution: | Keywords: lion
Port: libnetpbm |

Comment (by ryandesign):
The `curl` command on old versions of macOS like Lion is no longer able to
download files from GitHub and other servers that require more modern
encryption protocols. The fact that we mirror the distfiles on our
servers, which can be used from any macOS version of `curl`, mitigates
this problem.
But our mirror has not had a chance to mirror these files yet, because a
build of many hundreds of ports is [https://build.macports.org/waterfall
currently in progress], due to the recent openssl update. It will take
several more days for all of these ports to finish building. Eventually,
the build server will get around to building the netpbm update, at which
time it will fetch and mirror these distfiles, at which time you will be
able to fetch them. Shortly thereafter, binaries would also be available,
such that there would be no need for you to fetch these distfiles anymore.
