 hmm, yes. This damned Poppler issue is a huge pain in the rear -- it seems
 the authour of poppler likes to update it every two weeks, and it never
 updates without manual intervention. Ugh.

 I am liking my "force the old one out" approach more and more as NOBODY
 seems to be able to figure out how to make it build against the newly
 built rather than previously installed version, despite all the
 {{{DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH}}} shenanigans that just don't fix the (years old)
 issue....
