 If this is the last  part of the fix, and the tipping point is whether it
 fails on 30|50|NN… I guess as an preference option it would be a little
 bit “future-proof”, sortof… (ie avoiding more changes), wouldn't it?

 I've cleaned up the last parts in the `mirror_sites.tcl` now (PR:7257). So
 if/when that gets merged, I guess we can close this one – since it seems
 to work now.*
