 Thank for reporting. My student reported presumably the same problem, but
 I can't reproduce it. The common factor between my student's and your
 environment is the beta version of command line tools. I must confess that
 I'm to still used to a pull request in MacPorts. I know what it is and
 have even sent a few, but I'm not sure how pull requests fit with the old
 ticket-based workflow.
