 While a solution is hopefully worked out, I wanted to call out that unless
 I missed something (which is very likely!) the macports installation
 instructions pages did not specifically state that I should use the
 '+universal' variants of any ports that I install on a Big Sur
 installation on M1 silicon. Perhaps that needs to be accentuated ? That
 would prevent folks from going through the standard installation sequence
 needlessly.
