 Update: cmake built with `macports-gcc-7` still crashes with exactly the
 same bus error as before. This at least confirms that the cmake crash has
 nothing to do with my hacky -stdlib=macports-libstdc++ patches for
 clang-3.4/3.7 (I've removed these patches again from my current clang
 builds).

 I think the cmake crash has already been reported in #59832 - apparently
 it's related to libgcc7 7.5.0, and the suggested fix is to go back to 7.4,
 which I'm trying now. If that doesn't work either, I'll try your cmake39
 port.
