 I followed your suggestion with cfitsio and ecw. **Both installed with no
 problem.**

 The next variant I tried was gcc9. **That failed.** But we knew that from
 comments 7 and 8.

 I checked config.log, it's the same as before. Any idea on how to fix that
 particular issue?

 Moving to the next variants.
