 Indeed this affects up to 10.11; the Travis CI 10.11 builder
 [https://paste.macports.org/76d466badcec failed] for a PR I have open, and
 [https://ports.macports.org/port/mysql8/summary port health] shows failure
 for 10.11 and earlier.
