 This is a very delicate port. On 10.13, it will only build with the
 default compiler. Trying to use clang-9.0 on 10.13 fails too, in a
 different way though.

 These PERL ports seem to try to do a lot of figuring out of system version
 specifics and make assumptions about compilers, SDKs, etc. Makes them hard
 to tweak when things aren't working as expected.
