 Thank you for the clarification. I can confirm that the binary release at
 https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mit-scheme/stable.pkg/10.1.11/  installs as
 intended. I didn’t realise it was binary as it also had some elements that
 need to be compiled.

 I will try to get the SVM version installed and see if it goes smoothly or
 I stumble on something.
