Comment (by ryandesign):

 The destroot failure reported at the top of the ticket should be fixed by
 [c63702340a39c0f64853ee859a5f3ad7bfcd5709/macports-ports]. See #60458.

 The fact that the port is not distributable anymore is a separate issue
 which of course it would be great to solve too if possible.
