 I don't see this on Mojave 10.14.6 when running
 pymol-2.3.0_0+python27.darwin_18.x86_64.tbz2 built back on Oct 16  2019
 against the qt5 5.12.5 components built the same day.

 Updating to the newest packages which include pymol 2.4.0 and qt5 5.14.2
 also runs pymol fine under the new default python 3.8.
