 Using Parallels, I have VMs for every system from 10.5 to BigSur running
 on a 2010 MacPro, so that's quite easy to do.

 Another method is to force MP to build against a 10.11 SDK using a 10.11
 deployment target; you can do this on any system newer than the one you
 are targeting. You can also set up a whole installation of MP that way,
 using a custom prefix and setting it in macports.conf, if you like.
