 Thanks, I knew there had to be a flag I could set to keep the files, but I
 couldn't find it.

 Good/Bad news here... Using `sudo port -k install php74 +debug` the bug is
 no longer present and the code works as it should. Not real sure how to
 get a back trace on this since the bug can't be reproduced with setup for
 debugging.
