 I don't do much python, but it looked pretty easy. I think there is a list
 of automatically enabled sphinx contribs that all get brought in as a
 group -- not sure yet, but maybe I should add this to the list, if it
 exists. For now, I just spec'd it separately.

 That was the only additional sphinx component that I needed to build all
 the documentation -- I think :> I didn't see an error about the blockdiag
 component you mentioned. If we need that, should be simple enough to add
 too.
