 ***While I know for sure this at least affects i686-w64-mingw32-crt and
 almost certainly x86_64-w64-mingw32-crt, I don't know for sure if any of
 the other dependencies required by mingw-w64 (listed below) are also
 affected as I left the hack in effect for the rest of the compile:
