 Not sure what you mean by Mariadb variant. 10.2 was installed with "port
 install Mariadb-10.2-Server". With the issues with the other install I
 tried the exact same thing "port install mariadb-10.5-server" and it gave
 the same error. I also attached a file with all the ports I have installed
 on this server in case that helps.
