 This means you installed MacPorts for Catalina. You must always install
 MacPorts for your specific major OS version. See wiki:Migration for how to
 upgrade, if you need to upgrade from a previous install. We won't be
 offering package installers for Big Sur until after Big Sur final is
 released so you will need to compile MacPorts from source to make it Big
 Sur compatible.

 This problem is unfamiliar to me. MacPorts git master compiles and works
 fine for me on macOS 11 beta.
