 On old Macs `/usr/bin/nm` and `/opt/local/bin/nm` behave differently and
 understand different options. `'-g'` for external symbols and `'-P'` for
 POSIX format in output are understood by both, an additional `'-t x'` is
 not necessary for hex formatted numbers but accepted by both. Without
 `-U` which Apple's `nm` does not understand also undefined symbols are
 output but do not harm. So we have a cure for this!
