 Indeed I also built it successfully for 10.6 (and everything else), but
 that seemed less interesting to mention. :-) After your PPC fixes, 10.5
 i386 was the only remaining failing case.

 I did try deactivating the clangs, and it didn't help.  I notice that the
 "preferred compilers" list doesn't care whether they're active, or even
 installed (presumably so that it can install or activate if needed).

 Would the `-no-pie` break things in cases where PIC is actually wanted?
