 Ah I see, you're referring to the "development version" concept that
 Graphviz previously used. The current version numbers follow
 [https://semver.org/ semantic versioning]. The present notion of
 "development version" refers to the inter-release packages which are the
 ones I said I don't know who is using.

 The even/odd distinction is not one Graphviz makes anymore. The
 0.0.long_number ones in [https://gitlab.com/graphviz/graphviz/-/packages
 the Gitlab package registry] are the unhelpful development versions, but
 every other x.y.z one is a stable release.
