Comment:

 Clawpack was [https://github.com/macports/macports-
 ports/commit/47646676571f126aa26b6cc8e8a9a631cb3359f1 recently updated],
 and seems to [https://ports.macports.org/port/py38-clawpack/summary build]
 on 10.12.\\
 I cannot say for certainty if the update was the reason the build no
 longer fails, but with no way to reproduce the error, it seems unlikely we
 can fix the problem if it still exists.
