 used in code that interacts with system libraries might prove relevant

 be great if this worked! was there something in mozjs17 (builds and works
 on ppc) that was removed later?

 also the TenFourFox code had a lot of tweaks done for mozjs by Cameron and
 there could be pearls in there.
