 What makes you think it's because rpath is disabled?

 I see failures for macOS 12 arm and macOS 11 x86_64, both due to undefined
 libiconv symbols. Sounds more like the well-known libtool macOS 11+ bug.

 I do see successful builds after your next change to re-enable rpath, but
 I don't understand why. I guess I don't understand rpath.
