 In fact it only uses `c++` to link the dylib, which is inexplicable since
 the project contains no C++ code that I can see. This happening because of
 a patch that we added shortly after the port was added; see
 https://trac.macports.org/ticket/15281. I'll try to fix it to link with
 `$(CC)` instead. At the same time, I'll try to fix it so that it uses
 MacPorts CFLAGS and LDFLAGS which it currently does not.
