Comment:

 MacPorts 2.6.4 detects Apple Silicon systems just fine.

 On all systems, `build_arch` should already have been commented out in
 macports.conf (it has been that way since the option was
 [changeset:2d83d6ef6d8d205e9a76916cccf9bcbeefa8217a/macports-base added to
 the conf file] in 2009), thus allowing MacPorts to use its built-in
 defaults. Perhaps you migrated this file from an older computer and had
 manually uncommented this line in the past.
