 Switching to log2l is not the correct fix, Ken. The issue is the lack of
 rounding, not any bug in the function. It happens to work with a
 truncating conversion sometimes because of minor variations in FPU
 behaviour, giving a result a tiny bit larger than 12 instead of a tiny bit
 smaller.
