 If there is functionality missing from libidn2 despite the note saying
 that it has a compatibility layer, then my guess is you should simply keep
 both. Writing your own extensions to libidn2 seems like a drastic
 solution, untenable in the long run and not needed for now. But I'm just
 another user. Thanks for looking into this!
