 The same (possibly to be considered unhelpful) behaviour often occurs with
 +java and +debug and +docs and a few other things that you mean to have
 apply only to the port you are installing, but it brings those variants in
 on every dep as well.

 No doubt one can quickly come up with an opposite case where not having
 this behaviour breaks everything.
