OK -- it looks like sundials, which is what I need, requires mpich-
default, and AFAICT it is not satisfied by any other mpi subport.
So we need to change things it appears so at least that one port can
install everywhere.
The mpich portfile already uses the compilers portgroup, and this seems to
be updated very carefully with the current MP compiler settings, so I'm
not completely sure why we couldn't just stay with that.
But be that as it may, if we can sort out how to get this building on the
systems it build on a few weeks ago, that should be OK. All the other
gazillion subports and variants of this behemoth can languish I guess, so
long as the one everything needs, which seems to be mpich-default, works.
Unless I still don't see how the interaction between sundials and mpich-*
works, which is entirely possible, sadly.
