Comment (by leavenode):

 I ought to be able to make that HOWTO work manually. Scripting it so it
 runs automatically is still a little above my pay grade. But I'm used to
 scp'ing files around my network, and I done the
 {{{
 git clone github.com/foo/foobar
 ./configure
 make
 make install
 }}}
 dance more times than I remember now. I'm basically a hobbyist who jumped
 ship from the M$ world to Linux back in the noughties, and haven't looked
 back. The ppc Macs are a relatively new obsession - I already have three,
 and I'm currently bidding on a G4 Powerbook, so I'm already in way deeper
 than I originally planned...

 manually (I set up a sharing site where I have all my software centrally
 shared now), and so I should just try it once to make sure it still works
 like that.
