 The issue still exists as of today, as evidenced by the large number of
 p5.32 build failures on 10.6, such as for example

 /install-port/logs/stdio p5.32-mac-systemdirectory]:

 Regardless, I recommend we modify the perl config files to reference a
 compiler that is guaranteed to exist (comment:5).
