New description:
This is on x86_64 with Big Sur 11.2.3 and the log file (config.log)
contains
{{{
configure:18044: checking for headers required to compile python
extensions
configure:18054: -I/opt/local/include
-isysroot/Applications/Xcode.app/Content
./configure: line 1938: -I/opt/local/include: No such file or directory
configure:18054: $? = 127
configure: failed program was:
| /* confdefs.h */
| #define PACKAGE_NAME "gobject-introspection"
}}}
which I believe is because CPP has got set to be an empty string.
I worry about the introduction of autoconf 2.71 without providing a way to
preserve and select autoconf 2.69, because when I reautoconf in gobject-
introspection there are MANY warning messages...
