 So Steven, I see someone did the patch for you, but in that "teach a man
 to fish" way I think you were coming along nicely.

 MacPorts needs more maintainers, especially when people actually use the
 software and know when it's not working right.

 So if this has given you any enthusiasm dive in a bit, and if you get
 there, please feel free volunteer to help us maintain this and other
 software you know about. You can ask any questions you may have on the
 developer mailing list.
