 Any issues I have with libreoffice are off-topic, and I thank you for your
 explanations.  I will download a binary from libreoffice.org instead for
 my 10.12 target environment.

 In summary, orcus is now building correctly on MacOS 10.12, which was the
 subject of this Trac ticket.  I don't know the procedure to close the
 Trac, nor even if it is appropriate for *me* to do so, but I'm satisfied
 the issue is closed.
