 Because it builds and installs fine on my 10.7 system, it seems like
 something we should be able to fix on your system (ie if MacPorts' install
 of something was broken, my system wouldn't install it so easily).

 Now, whether it works or not is to be sorted out later. I will not that
 precious few ports actually pass the test suites fully, and on 10.7, even
 fewer. Some actively used ports have like 80% of the tests fail, if you
 can believe that. But what we need them for works. SO I wouldn't put too
 much heartburn into the test suite, although it's always best if it 100%
 passes, for sure.

 To get you working, let's see what might be different between your system
 and my working system. So please show me results of this:
