 This seems to be a bug in `port` IMO.

 Peter, there have been quite a few changes over the past few weeks, which
 may fix these issues. And this port has binaries for Big Sur, eliminating
 the build step.

 Are you able to successfully install the port now, after running either a
 `port sync` or `port selfupdate`?
