Comment:

 I'm not sure why this failed for you, but that was with version 0.31.1
 from 2002. In the past few years a new developer has started updating
 autotrace and the new version 0.40.0-20200219.65 will be available in
 MacPorts within an hour, and the configuration system no longer looks for
 `pstoedit-config` so it shouldn't be possible for it to fail the same way
 anymore.
