 FYI, refactoring is mostly complete. While there is still some copy-pasta
 between openmpi/mpich, most of the duplicated logic related to subport
 creation, validation, etc, has been refactored to pg 'mpiutil'.

 Perhaps more can be done, but I'm much happier with the result.
