 there are hundreds if not thousands of ports with this VERSION issue,
 because c++17 has a header named <version> and autotools long has has a
 file named VERSION.

 We have fixed this dozens and dozens of times already building ports with
 clang-9.0.

 There is no fixing Xcode for this I believe; Xcode finally shipped a clang
 version with this header, so now there are. more people seeing it, as
 macOS is usually case-insensitive (that's probably the real error, likely
 NTBF...
