 Older MacPorts binary package would work with a little elbow grease to
 overcome the differing filesystem layout, but I don't know of any
 archiving mechanisms for MacPorts packages.  Given that it isn't really
 possible to "go back in time" to a previous state of MacPorts, I don't
 think that such an archive is maintained within the MacPorts
 infrastructure but I could well be wrong.

 Can anyone provide more information of whether MacPorts archives are
 retained at all and where?
