 I don't have access to old macOS versions to test, but if you hover your
 mouse over the macOS header on
 https://adoptium.net/supported_platforms.html you see: "macOS builds
 should work on 10.12 or above", so that is what I used for the check in
 MacPorts as well.

 If you try manual install the `.tar.gz` or `.pkg` on 10.11 and can verify
 that everything works, we could consider lowering the OS requirement in
 MacPorts, but apparently the Adoptium project doesn't support 10.11 or
 older.
