 NB: If an Intel bootstrap isn't needed, does this mean the instructions
 at: https://trac.macports.org/wiki/LibcxxOnOlderSystems are wrong?

 I'm only asking because I'm interested in this for future powerPC ports of
 my programs so want to retest or improve those instructions if new things
 are now possible.
