 Sorry to be confusing, but I'm confused too.  It's not behaving
 consistently.

 On the MacBook just now, I saved the log file from the previously failed
 build. I'll attach it here as openblas.log1.

 Then I ran "sudo port install -s openblas +native", without cleaning the
 failed build.  It completed successfully (or at least without error
 messages).

 Then I uninstalled and cleaned openblas, and built it again, with "sudo
 port install -s openblas +native".  That failed.  The log file is
 openblas.log2.

 Next I tried to rebuild as before, without cleaning.  This time it failed.
 The log file is openblas.log3.
