Comment (by snarkhunter):

 Installing gdk-pixbuf2 +x11, even if other ports are +quartz -x11, makes
 this problem go away.  Is that a safe workaround?
 (gdk-pixbuf2 @2.42.2_2+x11, macOS 11.6)
